Nedzheli

Nedzheli extends for 33.5 kilometers in length and 6 kilometers in width, covering a surface area of 119 square kilometers in central Yakutia.

The establishment of Nedzheli as a protected area emerged from Russian conservation laws implemented in 1995 to safeguard natural territories across the country.

Local fishermen regularly catch crucian carp from the lake waters, which holds particular importance in traditional Yakutian cuisine and community practices.

Visitors need to consider that Nedzheli freezes from late September until mid-June, with access requiring careful navigation through the surrounding larch forests.

The lake system includes the Kyunkyuy and Kharya-Yuryakh inflows, supporting diverse bird populations including Siberian cranes and black-headed gulls.
