Krasnokamsky District, Municipal district in Bashkortostan, Russia
Krasnokamsky District is a municipal district in the northwest of Bashkortostan, Russia. It is made up of a number of rural settlements grouped into smaller administrative subdivisions.
The district was created in 1930 as part of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. When the Soviet Union dissolved, it became part of the new Republic of Bashkortostan.
The district has a fully rural character, and daily life follows the rhythm of farming and the seasons. Local crafts passed down through families are still practiced in many of the villages scattered across the area.
The district is connected to surrounding areas by regional roads, and travel is easiest during the warmer months. Those planning to visit rural parts of the area should keep in mind that some tracks can be difficult in wet or cold weather.
The name of the district combines the Russian words for red and stone, yet no well-known local feature seems to explain this name clearly. The origin of the name remains a point of curiosity for those who look into the area's past.
