Uchan-su, Natural waterfall near Yalta, Crimea

The Uchan-su waterfall plunges from a height of 98 meters, making it the tallest waterfall in the Crimean mountains.

The waterfall received natural monument status in 1947 and became part of the Yalta Mountain Forest Nature Reserve in 1973.

The name Uchan-su originates from the Crimean Tatar language, translating to 'flying water' in reference to its vertical water stream.

The waterfall displays its strongest water flow during spring snowmelt and after heavy rains, while summer months bring reduced water levels.

During winter months, the waterfall transforms into massive ice formations, attracting climbers who attempt to scale its frozen surface.
