The reserve extends along the Black Sea coast for 49 kilometers between Foros and Gurzuf, encompassing the mountainous areas surrounding Yalta.
The Yalta Mountain-Forest Nature Reserve was established on February 20, 1973, through a decree from the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
The reserve protects 1356 plant species, including 115 endemic species, and serves as a sanctuary for 37 mammal species and 113 bird species.
Visitors can access the reserve through designated trails, while activities such as lighting fires, collecting plants, hunting, and fishing are strictly prohibited.
The territory contains 194 karst formations and ranges from Mediterranean climate conditions at lower elevations to temperate cool environments in higher regions.
