Shchyokinsky District spans 1,393 square kilometers in the central region of Tula Oblast, with the town of Shchyokino serving as its administrative center.

The district emerged in July 1924 following territorial reorganizations, transitioning through various administrative divisions including Moscow Oblast and Tula Governorate until 1937.

The district maintains twenty-one rural administrations and four major urban settlements, representing different aspects of central Russian community life and local governance.

Located along the Moscow-Simferopol highway M2, the district provides direct transportation access to both the capital city and southern regions of Russia.

The territory houses 106,595 residents across multiple settlements, with 54.5 percent of the population concentrated in the administrative center of Shchyokino.
