Erarta Galleries, Contemporary art museum in Vasilyevsky Island, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Erarta Galleries is a contemporary art museum on Vasilyevsky Island, displaying works across several exhibition spaces filled with pieces by Russian artists. The spaces contain paintings, sculptures, installations, and other creative forms arranged throughout the building.
The building was constructed in 1951 for use by a Communist Party district committee. Later it changed purposes and eventually became the site for this art museum.
The collection brings together artists from across Russia, each bringing their own regional perspective and artistic approach. You can see how contemporary works connect to local traditions and individual creative visions.
The museum offers guided tours and has a restaurant and gift shop on site. The spaces are well-marked, allowing you to explore at your own pace and find areas of interest easily.
The U-space project creates immersive art installations that pull you directly into artistic concepts. These special exhibitions offer a different experience from looking at works on traditional gallery walls.
