The State Northern Maritime Museum occupies a former marine terminal building between two piers along the Northern Dvina River embankment in Arkhangelsk.
Founded in 1975 as a departmental museum of the Northern Shipping Company, the institution received its state status and current name in 1993.
The main exhibition titled 'Millennium of Northern Navigation' presents over 21,000 artifacts documenting Russia's maritime heritage through ship models, maps, and navigation instruments.
The museum operates Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and weekends from 11:00 to 19:00, with guided tours available in Russian and English languages.
The exhibition space incorporates design elements of sailing vessels, including rigging details and ship drawings, while illuminated glass cases display Arctic exploration artifacts.
