The House of Voroshilov Shooters is a building with a triangular footprint bordered by Tver Prospect, Stepan Razin Embankment, and Volny Novgorod Street. Its multi-story structure displays classical facade elements and occupies a key location along the city's main thoroughfare.
Built in 1935, the structure served as headquarters for the Kalinin Military District starting in 1938 before transitioning to other uses after 1940. It later housed a military educational institute, reflecting its evolving role in the post-war period.
The building displays the neoclassical architecture of the Stalin era, with heavy columns and characteristic features from the pre-war years. This style shapes the embankment's character and recalls the urban development of that time.
The structure operates today as a hotel and dormitory for the Military Academy of Aerospace Defense and can be viewed from outside by visitors. Its location on the embankment allows access via the riverfront promenade and offers good views of the building's architecture.
Two memorial plaques on the facade document the site's history and recall its role during World War II if one looks closely. These plaques are easy to overlook, but they tell important stories about the city's military and civilian past.
