Timenkov & Frolov Almshouse

The Timenkov & Frolov Almshouse is a building complex located on Arsenalnaya Embankment and Komsomola Street that incorporates architectural elements from different construction periods. The site displays a mixture of varying styles within a single connected property.

The complex was initially built between 1870 and 1878 by multiple architects, then underwent significant expansion from 1905 to 1908. This multi-decade development reflects how the institution had to grow to meet changing needs.

The institution served as both a residence and school for orphaned children, showing how Saint Petersburg addressed social welfare in the 19th century. You can still see the traces of this dual function as both shelter and learning space in the buildings today.
