Burg Saalau, Medieval castle ruin in Chernyakhovsky District, Russia.
The castle structure consists of a main southern wing and a western wing, built upon a high fieldstone base with black-fired brick patterns.
Established in 1352 under the Teutonic Order's control, Burg Saalau shifted to chamber office status following the order's secularization in 1525.
The castle represents a significant example of Teutonic architectural heritage in the former East Prussia region, now part of Kaliningrad Oblast.
Located at coordinates 54.655715, 21.5505617, the castle ruins are currently inaccessible to visitors as the site has been closed since December 1991.
The castle's walls display distinctive diamond patterns created through the arrangement of black-fired bricks against regular masonry.
