Karabikha estate

The Karabikha estate is a noble residence situated on a hill near Yaroslavl, featuring a main manor, two side wings, and landscaped grounds. The whole complex shows the layout typical of a prosperous country property from that era.

Prince Golitsyn began construction of the estate on Karabitova Hill in the 1740s as a noble country seat. By the 19th century it became linked to a major literary figure who made it a summer retreat.

The estate carries the legacy of the writer Nikolai Nekrasov, who found creative inspiration during his summers here. Visitors can see how the landscape and rooms shaped his literary work.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, with guided tours available inside the main building and throughout the park grounds. Plan for enough time to explore both the interior rooms and the landscaped areas outside.

The museum collection includes around 25,000 objects from different periods, such as original furniture, personal items, and rare books. This substantial collection gives visitors deep insight into the daily life and interests of those who lived there.
