The Kusyapkulovo oil field is located in the Pre-Ural foredeep and contains hydrocarbons stored in reef-like geological structures. The deposit spreads across multiple rock formations holding substantial oil and gas reserves.
The field was discovered in 1934 near Kusyapkulovo village, becoming the second oil deposit found in the Ural region. It closed in 1944 due to unprofitability but reopened in 1986 as a combined oil and gas production site.
The oil field shaped the community of Kusyapkulovo, which gradually merged into the industrial city of Ishimbay. Local life became linked to petroleum production and the infrastructure that grew around it.
The site is located in an industrial area and is not designed for public visits. The location is best accessed by vehicle, and visitors should maintain safe distance from active production operations.
