Samolyot, Aviation monument in Ishimbay, Russia
Samolyot was a monument featuring a complete Tu-104 aircraft with registration number 42376 positioned near the Palace of Youth and Children's Creativity in Ishimbay. The aircraft served as a visible landmark in the city's landscape.
In the 1970s, aircraft designer Alexei Tupolev donated a disassembled Tu-104 to Ishimbay to create this monument. It remained a notable feature of the city for over three decades until a fire led to its demolition in 2005.
The monument represented the first Soviet civilian jet aircraft and held special meaning as a symbol of the country's technological achievements. It served as a gathering place where local residents came together for celebrations and community events.
The monument was located near the city center at coordinates 53.4498, 56.0349, making it accessible on foot from most parts of the city. After a fire in 2005, it was demolished and replaced by a different memorial.
In the early 2000s, the aircraft's interior briefly functioned as a cafe under the initiative of mayor Vladimir Davydov. This creative use brought the monument to life and gave visitors an unusual experience.
