Kumysnaya Polyana, Nature park in Saratov, Russia.
Kumysnaya Polyana is a nature park in Saratov with forests, natural springs, and viewpoints overlooking the city and Volga River. The grounds contain walking trails, picnic areas, hillsides with rare pine trees, and numerous springs flowing from the plateau.
The area was named in the 19th century when Tatar communities grazed horses there and produced kumys from mare's milk. This economic use shaped the land for a long time and left its mark in the landscape's name.
The park is a place where locals come to walk and picnic, especially on weekends when families explore the different zones. The gardens and pathways connect natural landmarks and show how this place has been used for recreation across generations.
The park has several entrances and well-marked trails for hiking at different difficulty levels; winter skiing is also possible. Sturdy footwear is recommended since the paths can be uneven and there are noticeable elevation changes.
The grounds are known for a birch tree alley, a long row of trees running through a section and creating a distinctive feature. At several points in the park, visitors can observe natural mountain streams flowing surprisingly clear and cool from the heights.
