Established in 1929, the theatre building was designed by architect Fyodor Schechtel, who incorporated architectural elements from the Russian cultural renaissance period.
The theatre presents adaptations of Russian folk stories and international fairy tales through traditional marionette and hand puppet performances.
The theatre organizes regular performances from Tuesday through Sunday, with morning shows at 10:00 and afternoon shows at 14:00.
Skilled puppeteers manipulate up to 15 different types of puppets during performances, incorporating traditional Russian puppet making techniques.
