The Nizhny Novgorod River College occupies a substantial building on Bolshaya Pecherskaya Street, preparing students for careers in water transport management.
Originally established as Gorky River School, the institution later became a branch of the Volga State Academy of Water Transport in 2005.
The college bears the name of Ivan Petrovich Kulibin, an 18th-century Russian engineer who created numerous mechanical inventions in Nizhny Novgorod.
