Николаевские казармы, Military barracks in Khoroshyovsky District, Russia.
The Nikolaevskie Barracks consist of several three-story buildings made of red brick and stone following military construction standards of the late 1800s. Today various institutions, including the printing facilities of the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, occupy the preserved structures.
The facility was built in 1898 under architect S.U. Solovyov and originally housed the First Grenadier Artillery Brigade and First Don Cossack Regiment. It was developed during a period when the military was modernizing its infrastructure and shaping urban spaces.
The complex once housed a church that served as a spiritual center for soldiers stationed here. Visitors can still sense the importance this place held for military life of that era.
The buildings today house various occupants and are accessible for different purposes. Visitors should check in advance which areas are open to the public or if special permission is needed to tour certain sections.
A dedicated railway branch line with its own station was constructed in the early 1900s specifically to serve this military complex. This connection shows how significant and large the facility was for the city's transport network.
