The First University Building of Moscow State University stands at the intersection of Bolshaya Nikitskaya and Mokhovaya streets with classical architecture and a symmetrical facade. Inside, reading areas, lecture halls, and administrative spaces are distributed across multiple floors, serving various academic departments.

The building was completed in 1786 by architect Matvey Kazakov for Moscow Imperial University and served as the institution's first home. Following the great fire of 1812, it underwent comprehensive renovation in 1817 to restore its original form.

The building houses the Anthropological Museum and the University History Museum, where visitors can follow the development of the institution. These collections show the academic tradition and the role of the university in Russian education.

The building is accessible by metro or bus and is located in central Moscow on flat, easily walkable ground. Entrances are open during lecture periods, but visitors are advised to check exact opening times beforehand.

The central entrance features a stone frieze by sculptor Georgy Motovilov depicting people of different trades and symbolizing the link between practical work and scientific research. This artistic element reflects the university's philosophy that hands-on knowledge and academic learning are connected.
