Church of Saint Sergius of Radonezh on the Kulikovo Field

The Church of Saint Sergius of Radonezh is a brick building divided into three distinct sections with two lateral towers flanking a central structure. Its exterior displays traditional Russian architectural elements including characteristic decorative patterns and an elevated placement on the site.

Construction began in 1913 with backing from Tsar Nicholas II as a memorial to soldiers killed during the Battle of Kulikovo. The building faced decades of closure following the Soviet Revolution before Orthodox services resumed in the 1990s.

The church occupies a place of deep significance in Russian collective memory as a memorial to resistance and independence. Today, visitors and pilgrims come here to honor those remembered and to participate in the spiritual life that the building continues to nurture.

The location is part of a larger museum complex dedicated to the battlefield and memorial, featuring marked pathways and information boards throughout the site.
