Chesme Palace, Gothic palace in Saint Petersburg, Russia
The Chesme Palace features pink and white facades with twin towers, displaying the characteristics of Russian pseudo-gothic architecture from the 18th century.
Built between 1774 and 1777 under Catherine II's direction, the palace commemorated the Russian naval victory at the Battle of Chesme.
The palace contains a collection of architectural elements influenced by medieval designs, reflecting the Russian aristocracy's interest in European gothic styles.
Visitors can reach the palace by taking the metro to Moskovskaya station, followed by a short bus or tram ride to the location.
The palace's special porcelain service, commissioned by Catherine II, features green frogs on each piece to represent the surrounding wetlands.
