The Modest Mussorgsky Museum Reserve occupies a 19th-century manor house with a mezzanine, columns, and balustrade on Lake Zhizhitskoye in Pskov Oblast.
The museum opened on January 1, 1970, in the estate house that belonged to Ivan Chirikov, the grandfather of composer Modest Mussorgsky.
The museum displays collections of 19th-century nobility furnishings, including furniture, dishes, and family photographs from relatives of the composer.
Visitors can explore four main exhibitions about Mussorgsky's life, his operas, 19th-century peasant life, and the winter garden for 100-200 rubles.
The museum complex includes the Naumovo estate with its park, Karevo estate, Poshivkino churchyard, and receives 7,000 visitors annually.
