Dohna Tower, Kaliningrad

Dohna Tower is a red brick structure on the southern shore of Upper Pond, built with a circular form and multiple levels. The building displays the defensive features that once protected the city.

The tower was built in 1853 as part of the city's fortifications to serve a military purpose. It went on to witness major events during the 20th century before being adapted for different uses.

The tower now hosts the Amber Museum, where visitors can see jewelry and decorative items made from the region's famous fossilized resin. The displays show how important this material has been to local craftspeople for generations.

The tower sits right on the waterfront and is easily accessible on foot, with the surrounding area simple to explore. Visitors should allow time for climbing the stairs and viewing the museum displays.

During the final days of urban combat, this tower remained one of the last strongholds to resist capture. The building stands today as a reminder of the intensity of that period.
