Grand Maket Rossiya, Interactive model museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia
Grand Maket Rossiya is an interactive model museum in western Saint Petersburg that displays a scaled-down version of Russia across a vast indoor space. The layout stretches through multiple rooms with recreated cities, forests, rivers, and mountains connected by a functioning railway network.
Over 100 craftsmen worked five years on the construction before the museum opened in June 2012. The project began as a private initiative and grew into one of the largest miniature worlds in Russia.
The name comes from the French word for model, commonly used in Russia for miniature worlds. Visitors see recreated everyday scenes with tiny figures working, celebrating, or moving through traffic, reflecting the rhythm of life across different regions.
The museum stands at 16 Tsvetochnaya Street and opens daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, with lower admission prices on weekdays. A visit typically lasts around two hours, and visitors can move freely through the space to view details up close.
The exhibition holds 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) of railway track with 250 locomotives running in miniature. Alongside this, 500,000 LED lights shift between day and night every 13 minutes to simulate a full day cycle.
