Avangard Stadium

Avangard Stadium is a sports facility in Vyborg with a grass playing surface of 105 meters by 75 meters and seating capacity of around 3,500. The main stand features both seated sections and standing areas that preserve the original functionalist design.

Finnish architect Uno Ullberg designed the stadium in 1933 when Vyborg was part of Finland, making it the most advanced sports facility in the country at that time. The structure has survived decades of political change and remains standing today.

The stadium served as a gathering place for sporting events and community activities in Vyborg's central park area. It remains a marker of how sports venues functioned as social hubs in the city.

The stadium is located on Fizkulturnaya Street and is easily reached when exploring the cultural park area. Access is straightforward, and the surroundings provide ample space for visitors to view the facility from outside.

The stadium was scheduled to host football matches during the 1940 Summer Olympics, but the event was canceled due to World War II. This unrealized role remains a remarkable chapter in the facility's history.
