Avesta, Administrative urban center in Dalarna County, Sweden
Avesta stands at 89 meters above sea level along the Dalälven River, serving as a railway junction point known as Krylbo in central Sweden.
The settlement, first recorded in 1303 as Aghastadhum, developed around copper mining operations that began in 1636 near the Avesta tributary stream.
The town maintains a strong connection to its industrial roots through the transformation of Koppardalen Verket, an 1874 ironworks, into an art exhibition museum.
Metropoolen provides indoor swimming facilities with a 78-meter water slide, making it a recreational destination during all seasons for families and visitors.
The Avesta Visentpark houses 25 European bison alongside a 1930s residence, offering educational programs and children's activities throughout the year.
