Läckö Castle, Medieval castle in Kållandsö, Sweden
Läckö Castle rises on the shores of Lake Vänern with white stone walls, four floors, and a main courtyard surrounded by fortified structures.
Founded in 1298 by Bishop Brynolf Algotsson, the castle served as a residence for the bishops of Skara until the Swedish Reformation in 1527.
The castle displays Baroque architecture with decorated walls, painted ceilings, and numerous rooms featuring period furnishings from the 17th century.
The castle opens daily from June to August, with guided tours available in multiple languages and a restaurant serving Swedish cuisine.
The castle courtyard transforms into an opera venue each July, hosting performances against the backdrop of medieval stone walls.
