Fredriksskans, Multi-purpose stadium in Kalmar, Sweden

Fredriksskans is a football and athletics stadium in central Kalmar, with a grass pitch surrounded by a running track. Its two main stands, built in 1976 and 1995, hold about 9,000 spectators, roughly half seated and half standing. The arena is home to Kalmar SK, Ängö BK and Kalmar AIK FK.

The venue opened in 1919 and served as the home stadium for Kalmar FF for many decades. After the club relocated to Guldfågeln Arena in 2011, other teams and athletes have continued using the facility.

The name Fredriksskans comes from the 17th-century fortification of Kalmar Castle named after King Fredrik I; the stadium only took this official name in 1943, after locals had used it for years. Today Kalmar SK, Ängö BK and Kalmar AIK FK play here, and in 2023 Håkan Hellström drew a concert record of 16,233 spectators.

The grounds are easy to locate and provide parking for visitors attending matches or training events throughout the year. The facility is open to the public for viewing various sporting activities and competitions.

The name Fredriksskans was only made official in 1943; locals had long called the ground after the 17th-century fortification of Kalmar Castle named for King Fredrik I. The current attendance record of 15,243 was set in 1949 at a Kalmar FF match against Malmö FF.
