Tranebergsbron, Double arch bridge in Stockholm, Sweden

Tranebergsbron is a concrete and steel bridge connecting Kungsholmen island to the Bromma district across the Tranebergssund strait. The structure carries road traffic on its upper level and metro tracks below, spanning several sections to cross the water.

A floating bridge originally stood at this location and was completed in 1787. The current structure was built in the 1930s, replacing the earlier structure with modern engineering techniques.

The bridge serves as a vital link that shaped how Stockholm's neighborhoods grew and connected to one another. Walking or driving across it, you notice how it brings together people from the central island and the outer districts in daily movement.

The best way to experience the bridge is to walk or cycle across it and take in the views of the water below. Try exploring the areas on both sides to understand how it connects these different parts of the city.

The bridge was designed with enough vertical clearance to allow large ships to pass underneath, maintaining about 26 meters of space beneath the arches. This detail shows how the engineers balanced the needs of maritime traffic with urban connectivity.
