Fulufjället National Park, National park in Älvdalen, Sweden

The 385-square-kilometer park features sandstone mountains, dense old-growth forests, and Sweden's highest waterfall, Njupeskär, measuring 93 meters in height.

King Carl XVI Gustaf inaugurated the national park in September 2002, marking a significant step in Swedish environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development.

The absence of reindeer grazing has created distinct mountain heaths covered with brush, grass, and lichens, different from other Scandinavian mountain regions.

Visitors can access multiple hiking trails throughout the park, with the Njupeskär waterfall trail closing during winter due to avalanche risks.

The park contains Old Tjikko, a Norway Spruce tree with a root system dating back thousands of years, making it one of Earth's oldest living organisms.
