Helgasjön

Helgasjön is a large lake in Växjö Municipality that stretches across the landscape with an intricate shoreline featuring numerous bays and inlets. The water is surrounded by forested shores typical of the Småland region's natural character.

The area around the lake took shape as a regional center after Kronoborg Castle was built here in medieval times. This early development established the region as an important settlement zone in Småland.

Local fishing communities maintain traditional methods of catching pike and perch throughout the four seasons on Helgasjön.

The lake can be reached through multiple points around Växjö, with parking and boat facilities available at various locations. The best time to visit depends on your plans, as the lake offers different experiences across the seasons.

The lake contains over 303 million cubic meters of water and forms part of a watershed area covering 1,220 square kilometers.
