Tyresta National Park

Tyresta National Park is a protected nature reserve with ancient woodland, thick pine forests, bare flat rocks, and multiple lakes spanning 5,000 hectares. The area also features a visitor center in Tyresta By that includes a café and farm shop for guests.

The park was established in 1993 to protect the largest untouched forest area in southern Sweden, shaped by glacial movements during ice ages. The landscape reflects thousands of years of natural development and geological processes.

The park features Naturum, an educational center shaped like Sweden, where visitors discover local ecosystems and environmental conservation efforts. This facility offers a hands-on introduction to the natural diversity that characterizes the area.

The area lies about 20 kilometers from Stockholm and offers around 55 kilometers of marked trails suitable for different fitness levels. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and bring weatherproof clothing, especially in the damper areas around the lakes.

The pine trees in the forest have developed distinctive, gnarled shapes over centuries as they adapted to harsh conditions. The air carries natural scents of bog myrtle and marsh Labrador tea, which shape the sensory experience of walking through the landscape.
