Backåkra, Former residence of UN Secretary-General in Österlen, Sweden.

The white farmhouse features traditional Swedish architecture with a stone foundation and sits on 74 acres of land overlooking the Baltic Sea.

Dag Hammarskjöld purchased Backåkra in 1957 as a summer residence and restored it until his death in a 1961 plane crash in Africa.

The property includes a meditation circle where UN Security Council members gather, following the tradition established in Hammarskjöld's meditation room in New York.

Visitors can explore the museum displaying Hammarskjöld's personal items, art collections, and diplomatic gifts from his time as UN Secretary-General.

The south wing serves as a dedicated retreat for the 18 members of the Swedish Academy, connecting literature and diplomacy in one location.
