Berns Salonger, Entertainment complex in central Stockholm, Sweden
Berns Salonger is an impressive building complex with grand columns and ornate windows in classical style at the edge of Berzelii Park. The establishment features multiple stages, dining areas, and various performance spaces, operated by the hospitality group Stureplansgrupper.
The building was constructed in 1863 by architect Johan Fredrik Åbom for pastry chef Heinrich Robert Berns and underwent significant expansions afterward. These additions grew the venue into a major entertainment destination in central Stockholm.
The venue takes its name from Heinrich Robert Berns, its founder, and has become established as a place for music and theater performances. Visitors today experience a blend of concert halls and dining areas that continue to host shows and gatherings.
The wheelchair-accessible venue is straightforward to navigate and offers various areas to explore, from stages to dining zones. Visitors find ample space to move between the different rooms and take in various events.
The venue became home to Sweden's first Chinese restaurant in 1944, founded by Chinese performers from the adjacent China Variety Theatre. This opening emerged from the collaboration between the complex and the entertainers working on its stages.
