Arsenalsgatan 8, Historic bank building in Östermalm, Sweden.
Arsenalsgatan 8 is a five-story building with red sandstone on its ground floor and light-colored plaster on the upper levels, topped by a black slate roof. Today it houses Bank Hotel with 115 rooms, restaurants, and a rooftop bar overlooking Stockholm.
The structure was built between 1907 and 1909 for the banking firm E. Öhman j:r, designed by architect Thor Thorén in the Art Nouveau style. Ferdinand Boberg contributed the fire wall design.
The building demonstrates how Stockholm's financial district evolved, with two glass-roofed banking halls that once served different Swedish banking institutions over many decades. These halls still shape how people move through and experience the space today.
The building sits near Blasieholmstorg square in central Stockholm and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors can access the hotel, restaurants, and rooftop bar to explore the space and take in views across the city.
The building contains specialized vault rooms without windows that preserve the original banking architecture while offering guests an unusual sleeping environment. These spaces reveal how secure and isolated banking operations had to be historically.
