Teleborg Castle, Castle in Växjö, Sweden
Teleborg is a castle built in the German medieval style in Växjö, Sweden, sitting close to Lake Trummen within the Linnaeus University grounds, with stone towers and mature trees surrounding it. It now operates as a hotel with a restaurant and rooms that can be booked for events and gatherings.
The castle was built in 1900 by architects Lindvall and Boklund as a wedding gift for Anna Koskull, commissioned by Count Fredrik Bonde af Björnö. After years as a private home, it went through several changes of use before eventually becoming the hotel it is today.
Teleborg spent decades as a girls' school before becoming a hotel and event venue used today for weddings and conferences. The gardens around the building are open to walk through and give a good sense of how the grounds are laid out.
The castle sits in a park-like setting near Lake Trummen and is easy to reach on foot from central Växjö. A visit works at any time of year, though the gardens are at their best in spring and early summer.
Although the castle looks like it belongs to another era, it sits in the middle of a modern university campus, surrounded by student housing and lecture buildings. In 2017 and 2018, it also served as the filming location for the Swedish television program 'Stjärnorna på Slottet' on SVT, bringing it to a wider audience.
