Tingstäde träsk

Tingstäde träsk is the second largest lake on Gotland, stretching across a wide area with an extended shoreline. The shallow water allows easy exploration and is surrounded by forest that shapes the entire landscape.

In the 12th century, builders constructed a wooden platform called Bulverket in the lake's center, serving as an important structure for that era. This construction shows early settlement patterns and how local people used the lake.

The lake's name comes from an ancient gathering place, reflecting its historical role in bringing people together for important meetings.

The lake is suitable for swimming during summer months and has sandy areas with forest all around. Visitors can find basic facilities and plenty of space for activities like camping near the water.

Since 2015, fishing has been prohibited to protect the lake's diverse wildlife and preserve its ecosystems. This measure allows visitors to observe the natural balance of the lake without human interference.
