Alnarp Castle

Alnarp Castle in Lomma Municipality is constructed of yellow brick and displays Dutch Renaissance architectural features throughout its design. It serves as the central building of a large educational complex covering approximately 26 hectares that includes additional university facilities, gardens, and research areas.

A medieval castle was first built on this site in 1325 for knight Anders Pedersen. The structure was replaced with the current yellow brick building in 1862, which was constructed using those same historical foundations.

The castle functions as the primary building of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, hosting students and faculty who study agricultural topics daily. The spaces serve as living and working areas where education and research activities take place naturally.

The grounds surrounding the castle are accessible year-round for walking and exploration at a leisurely pace. Comfortable footwear is recommended since the property is expansive and contains many different plant species worth viewing throughout the grounds.

A dedicated brick factory was specially constructed to produce the distinctive yellow stones needed for the castle's construction. This manufacturing facility became an integral part of the building project that shaped the castle's enduring appearance.
