Alnarp Park Arboretum, Botanical garden and arboretum in Alnarp, Sweden.
Alnarp Park is a 26-hectare botanical garden holding roughly 2,500 tree and shrub species from around the world. The grounds display one of Sweden's largest living collections, organized to show plants from different climates and regions.
The park began in 1859 alongside Alnarp Castle and became grounds for an agricultural institute that opened in 1862. Its development has been tied to the growth of Swedish agricultural education and plant research.
The park serves as an active learning space for students and visitors connected to Sweden's agricultural university. Walking through, you see how plants are labeled and organized for education and research.
Visitors can explore at their own pace while discovering different plant zones throughout the grounds. Audio guides are available for self-guided walks lasting about an hour and a half, starting from the main entrance on Sundsvägen.
A remnant forest called Alnarpsskogen survives within the park, once holding the only elm forest collection in Sweden during the 18th century. This surviving patch offers a glimpse into an earlier period when such forests were rare and scientifically important.
