Femöre

Femöre is a 236-hectare nature reserve in the Oxelösund archipelago with smooth rocks extending into the Baltic Sea and pine forests. This landscape supports rare insects, fungi, and lichens adapted to the harsh conditions of this coastal region.

The reserve was established on May 31, 2006, and includes a former coastal artillery bunker and a lighthouse keeper's house on the Femörehuvud peninsula. These structures date from a time when the area held military and maritime importance.

The Sörmlandsleden hiking route passes through this place, connecting visitors to a network of natural and historical sites in the region.

Three designated parking areas on the northwest, west, and southeast sides provide access to marked trails throughout the island. Routes are walkable year-round, though conditions vary by season.

White-tailed eagles, golden eagles, tawny owls, and various woodpecker species inhabit the area in different seasons. This bird diversity makes the place rewarding for birdwatchers at different times of year.
