Bellevue park, Public park in Norrmalm, Stockholm, Sweden
Bellevue Park is a public park in the Norrmalm district of Stockholm, with grassy areas, trees, and paths that cross several levels of hilly terrain. From the higher parts of the grounds, visitors can see parts of central Stockholm and the water nearby.
The park was laid out in the late 18th century by landscape architect Fredrik Magnus Piper, who was also involved in other major garden projects in Sweden at the time. Some older structures on the grounds go back to earlier uses of the site before it became a park.
The Carl Eldh Studio Museum sits inside the park and displays sculptures by the Swedish artist Carl Eldh, including portraits of figures from Swedish literary and artistic life. The wooden studio building was designed specifically for Eldh and still looks much as it did when he worked there.
The terrain is hilly, so comfortable footwear makes exploring the paths much easier. There are designated areas for dogs, so visitors with or without pets can use the park separately without getting in each other's way.
A farm that dated back to 1757 once stood on the grounds and was renovated in the early 2000s. The building now serves as a banquet and conference center and still shows visible elements of the original timber frame structure.
