Västra Strö 2 Runestone, Norse runestone in Västra Strö, Sweden.
The Västra Strö 2 Runestone is a monument with runic inscriptions carved in straight text bands across its surface. Its reverse side features a carved mask, distinguishing it from other runestones in the region.
The stone dates from the Viking Age as a record of ship ownership. In the 17th century, Danish scholar Ole Worm documented the monument, contributing to knowledge of its inscription and condition.
The stone commemorates two ship owners from the Viking Age named Faðir and Bjôrn. The inscription shows how people of that time marked their possessions and connections to one another.
The monument sits near a church about four kilometers northwest of Eslöv in Skåne County. It is relatively easy to locate once you know where to look in the Västra Strö area.
The stone uses a two-dot divider system between words, placing it among the earliest known runestone styles. This early writing method makes it a special example of how Norse inscriptions evolved over time.
