Fröllinge, Manor house in Halmstad Municipality, Sweden
Fröllinge is a stone manor house in Halmstad Municipality with two floors and a covered corridor along the courtyard side. The interior rooms follow Danish design principles and are organized around the central courtyard.
The manor was built in 1623 and first belonged to landowner Aage Axelsen Thott. In 1729 it was purchased by Christian Didrik von Conowen, a city official from Malmö, and has remained in his family since.
The manor displays Danish building traditions that reflect the close ties between Sweden and Denmark in the 1600s. This architectural blend is uncommon in the region and shapes how the building appears to this day.
The manor remains in private ownership through the descendants of the von Conowen family and is closed to visitors. You can view the exterior and surrounding landscape from outside the property.
The manor stands as the northernmost example of Danish-style castle architecture in Sweden and preserves its original 1600s structure. Despite renovations in the 1960s, the characteristic architectural features have largely remained intact.
