Fors kyrka, Medieval church in Eskilstuna, Sweden.

Fors kyrka is a stone church located along the western bank of the Eskilstuna River, distinguished by a tower that rises approximately 50 meters high. The building features a three-part choir with cross-arms and retains portions of its original Romanesque structure.

Saint Eskil, an English monk, founded the church in the mid-11th century as a center of faith in the region. In the early 15th century, the tower was added and fundamentally changed the building's appearance.

The church displays works of art from different periods that reflect the religious development of the region. Visitors can see medieval sculptures alongside baroque pieces that were added later, showing how taste and beliefs changed over the centuries.

The church is located at Kyrkogatan 16 and is open on many days of the week with varying time slots. Visitors should check in advance to see which hours work for them and to avoid unexpected closures.

The tower originally served as both a defensive structure and a lookout point against attacks coming from the river. This dual purpose was practical for a medieval community that needed protection and faith equally.
