Sculpture Park of Drottningholm Palace

The Sculpture Park of Drottningholm Palace is a planned garden with marble and bronze statues, fountains, and straight paths between trimmed hedges. The figures display mythological themes and are arranged symmetrically.

The park was created in the 1670s by the Swedish royals as part of the palace grounds. It emerged as an expression of Baroque style and royal power during that era.

The park displays sculptures that reflect European and royal taste from the 1600s. You can see how the Swedish aristocracy chose to express their connection to classical art.

The park is best visited from April through October, when all pathways are accessible and vegetation appears well-maintained. Comfortable shoes are important, as there is much to explore and paths can be long.

An extensive fountain network features classical mythological figures such as Hercules as central artworks. These fountains are not just decorative but also technical accomplishments of the Baroque period.
