Landsort 120-mm. Heavy Artillery Battery

The Landsort Battery contains three 120-millimeter artillery pieces mounted within protective domes and integrated into the natural rock formations of the island.

Built in 1978 as part of the Marine Band Line, this military installation protected the maritime routes leading to Stockholm during the Cold War period.

The battery represents Swedish military engineering excellence through its advanced design, which incorporated autonomous operation capabilities and protection against multiple threat types.

Access to the battery requires advance booking through the National Property Board of Sweden, with guided tours available during specific times of the year.

The facility could operate independently for thirty days within its rock-hewn chambers, equipped with systems to counter chemical, biological, and nuclear threats.
