Jiingijamborii, Scout gathering in Rinkaby, Sweden
Jiingijamborii is a scout gathering in Rinkaby, Sweden, spread across six districts that accommodated roughly 19,500 participants. The camp was divided into separate areas, each with its own facilities and activity zones for the large number of visitors.
The 2007 gathering celebrated 100 years of the scout movement and brought together scouts from all five Swedish associations. Participation from 31 international countries made this a significant milestone in global scouting history.
The 'Crossroads of Cultures' program let visitors experience international traditions through wedding ceremonies and dance activities from around the world. Scouts from different countries shared their customs and traditions, making the gathering a celebration of global diversity.
The site was organized by age groups: 11-12 years, 13-15 years, and 16-19 years, each with tailored activities. This separation allowed organizers to design age-appropriate programs and challenges suited to each group's abilities.
The name comes from the South Sámi word 'jinge,' meaning multifaceted, combined with 'jamboree.' This choice reflected the event's commitment to honoring diversity and different viewpoints.
