Karolinen

Karolinen is a multi-story complex with five to six floors made up of several interconnected buildings in Karlstad. The interior features green courtyards with water features that define the character of the entire site.

This structure was built between 1973 and 1978 for the Swedish Armed Forces and was designed by architect Gosta Edberg. It emerged during a period when Scandinavia was constructing modern office complexes with new design approaches.

The place serves as a working hub where people gather daily, with landscaped courtyards that encourage wandering and reflection. These shared green spaces show how the site aims to blend human activity with natural elements in an urban setting.

The site sits less than 10 minutes on foot from the train station and bus terminal, making it easy to reach. On the premises you will find a restaurant, cafe, and fitness facility.

The roof features solar panels that generate renewable energy and give the site a forward-thinking character. Additionally, a municipal preschool with specialized play areas operates on the grounds.
