Kungsstugan, Historical museum in Wadköping, Sweden
Kungsstugan is a historic wooden log building with a sod-covered porch located in Wadköping that features four storage rooms on the ground floor and two guest chambers upstairs. The structure displays traditional craftsmanship with preserved original materials and construction methods typical of its era.
The building was originally constructed in the 1500s at Järntorget in central Örebro and served as part of the Mayor's residence. It was moved to Wadköping in 1965 and subsequently gained formal protection status.
The upper rooms display original wall and ceiling paintings from the 1500s and 1600s, painted directly onto the wooden surfaces with distinct artistic styles that vary from one chamber to the next.
The building is easiest to reach by walking the riverside path along the Svartån from Stadsparken or by parking at the nearby Skytteparken parking area. Visitors should be prepared for uneven forest trails and varying seasonal conditions that may affect access.
It is the oldest building in Örebro and received formal monument protection status in 2000 under Örebro Municipality jurisdiction. The relocation from the city center to Wadköping in the 1960s was an important preservation effort.
