The County Museum of Gävleborg spans over 2000 square meters of exhibition space, displaying Swedish art, industrial artifacts, textiles, and archaeological collections.
Founded in 1940 through Antonie Rettig's donation, the museum began with a collection of one thousand art and craft objects in a building designed by Sven Wranér.
The museum maintains extensive archives documenting regional history, featuring personal records, business materials, and photographs that detail life throughout Gävleborg County.
Located three minutes from Gävle train station at Södra Strandgatan 20, the museum operates Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 to 18:00 and weekends from 12:00 to 16:00.
The museum houses Hedvig Ulfsparre's textile collection, previously part of Nordiska Museet, representing significant Swedish textile craftsmanship through the centuries.
