Stadshuset, Sundsvall

Stadshuset is the town hall of Sundsvall and serves as a civic building for municipal administration. Its entrance features three double doors framed by ornate iron brackets and architectural projections that create a strong visual impact.

The building was originally designed in 1868 by architect Birger Oppman but was destroyed by fire in 1888. Norwegian architect Andreas Bugge reconstructed it afterward with modifications to the original design.

The building shows influences from Renaissance and national romantic styles in its interior design and decoration. These design choices shaped how the space feels and how people experience it today.

The ground floor contains administrative offices, while upper floors hold a banquet hall, several dining rooms, and a space for court functions. The building now hosts events and conferences throughout the year.

The complex received heritage protection status in 1975, officially recognizing its importance to the city and its architecture. This designation transformed it from purely administrative use to a venue for public events and gatherings.
